R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Today as I was watching a little boy that I watch every Thursday, I gained newfound respect for moms. I mean, carrying a baby (and this isn't a tiny newborn baby, we're talking like 19-months-old), his diaper bag, AND my purse is quite the task. Also, there's so much buckling. We buckle all the time. It's all we do. Buckling him into his carseat. Unbuckling him. Placing him into his stroller (which was a complete mystery of how to close & open it at first!). Buckling him into his stroller. Unbuckling him and putting him back into the carseat. Buckling him into the high chairs at the restaurant.....etc etc etc. I felt like all I did today was buckle and unbuckle. But that wasn't all of it. The hardest part is this: keeping him entertained with something while you are shopping or doing whatever it is you are doing. I mean, boy, I was tired! I found that snacks were always a good way of keeping him occupied. Anyway, I'd just like to say that I had a glimpse of what it's like to be a mom today and although I couldn't live like this every day, I have so much respect for the moms out there that DO do this every day. Go moms!

Thanks, Emily! ;-) That's why I don't go to the mall much---if I do, it's when I group many errands together. :) It's easier as they get older, though. (in ways)

Em, this is so funny because I felt the same way yesterday after babysitting the one year old I watch! She is at the age where she wants to do everything by herself but can't quite walk - and she weighs 25 lbs! So it's a lot of work. Moms seriously are awesome!

If you ever want practice with 2 little ones who need buckled & unbuckled all day long, just let me know :-)

Haha thanks for the offer Marilyn...but I like being paid for all the buckling and unbuckling at this point in my life. Especially with another year of college left (I didn't need just 4 years of poor college life, I needed 5 apparently!)!!
